Artillery salute produced a separate guard salute division named after Marshal Vladimir Mikhalkin.

In total, more than 50 types of fireworks were released into the sky.

Chisinau was liberated from Nazi invaders by Soviet troops on August 24, 1944 during the Iasi-Chisinau operation.

Earlier, President of Moldova Igor Dodon unveiled an updated monument to Soviet soldiers-liberators in Chisinau.
