“We emphasize our disagreement with Nord Stream 2 and other projects that make our allies and partners dependent on energy from Russia,” RIA Novosti quoted a joint statement by the presidents.
The statement also notes that energy security is a national security issue.
“Natural gas resources in Romania can increase the well-being of our countries and strengthen the energy security of Europe,” the text says.
Earlier it was reported that the United States and Romania intend to strengthen "defensive positions" on the eastern flank of NATO, in particular in the Black Sea.
