Algerian international striker Leicester Islam Slimani, 31, has been loaned to Monaco, Tuesday learned from sources close to the club of the Principality.

Loaned last season to the Turkish club Fenerbahçe, where he was not very successful, Slimani, who was revealed during the 2013-2014 season at Sporting Portugal, under the orders of the current Monaco coach Leonardo Jardim , was Africa champion with Algeria this summer.

The loan of Slimani, under contract with Leicester until June 2021, is accompanied by an option to purchase, according to these same sources.

The player, who had his medical visit on Tuesday, has a similar profile to Argentina's Guido Carrillo, who left Monaco in January 2018 for the English club Southampton, for a transfer estimated at more than 20 million euros.
