Representatives of Ryanair's cabin crew in Spain on Tuesday announced a ten-day strike in September to protest planned airport closings by the low-cost airline.

"After more than seven hours of a meeting" with the representatives of the Irish company "that ended without agreement, unions USO and Sitcpla have filed the strike notice on the thirteen bases of Ryanair in Spain," says in a USO press release.

The cabin crew will observe work stoppages on the 1st, 2nd, 6th, 8th, 13th, 15th, 20th, 22nd, 27th and 29th of September, mostly Friday and Sundays.

He protests against possible airport closures on the tourist islands of Tenerife and Gran Canaria and wants to warn about the "uncertain future" of that of Girona (Catalonia, north-east), according to USO.

Other mediation meetings between management and unions could take place next week, the union said.

Ryanair, which announced in late July its intention to cut 900 jobs out of its 13,000 employees, faces several social movements in Europe.

His pilots in the UK and Ireland have announced strikes in August or September to protest their working conditions, particularly wages.
