Yemeni President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi was taking tough action after the first day of clashes in the southern port of Aden, but Saudi Arabia intervened and demanded a deadline to end the events, a government source was quoted as saying.

The Yemeni government source said that the measures taken by President Hadi against the UAE are harsh, including expelling them from the Saudi-led coalition and from Yemen with all its forces, and filing a formal complaint against them in the Security Council for supporting a coup and separating Yemen.

The source said - according to press reports - that Saudi Arabia has asked President Hadi since the first day of events to give it five days until the end of the coup in Aden and return to normalcy.

Developments in Aden
For its part, the Yemeni Ministry of Transport announced on Sunday the suspension of its work in the city of Aden, a day after the Ministry of Interior announced the suspension of work in its office and the passports and civil status in Aden as well.

In the meantime, the city experienced almost complete paralysis on the first official day after Eid al-Adha.

The Yemeni Minister of Transport Saleh al-Jibwani said in a previous statement that with the establishment of the Transitional Council and its presence in Aden, the state will return only by arming legitimacy and dismantling what he called the militias of the UAE.

The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council said its forces had not withdrawn from camps and vital positions they recently took over in the provisional capital Aden, in response to statements by the Saudi-UAE military alliance that the council had withdrawn from "legitimate government positions."

About a week ago, Southern Transitional forces took control of brigades and camps belonging to the legitimate government, after battles between the two parties ended in control of the presidential palace, which the government considered a "complete coup" on legitimacy in Aden, calling for the withdrawal of the transitional council forces before any dialogue.
