In Italy, Interior Minister Matteo Salvini reluctantly agreed to land 27 migrants from the Open Arms on Saturday, August 17. These unaccompanied minors were brought to the island of Lampedusa off which the boat is anchored. But there are still a hundred migrants on board that Salvini still refuses to let down.

The twenty-seven migrants evacuated by military stars on Saturday 17 August at the end of the day were taken to the Reception and Identification Center of the island. But a few hours later, Matteo Salvini returned to the attack. " There are already eight who have declared themselves major. If some give in, I do not change my mind, "he said.

An investigation aims Salvini

The Spanish humanitarian ship is still anchored just a stone's throw from Lampedusa this Sunday, August 18th. Salvini seems to ignore the investigation opened by the Agrigento prosecutor's office for "kidnapping of persons".

This inquiry directly targets the Minister of the Interior. The Open Arms crew still describes an unsustainable situation for the 104 migrants still at sea for seventeen days.

For the moment, no green light has been granted for the berthing of the ship in the port of Lampedusa while six European countries, including France, are ready to welcome migrants as soon as they set foot on land firm and will have been identified in a hotspot.
