The apartment where the woman lives is an LSS accommodation that the municipality rents from a tenant-owner association. The elevator on the property broke down on the fourth of June. The woman, who did not dare go out during the fall and winter, was stuck in her apartment for two months. Only on August 14 was the elevator repaired.

- It is very sad that the housing association did not manage to fix the lift, says unit manager Inger Elgemark.

Broken earlier

Another user in the same property had to move to another accommodation in connection with the elevator problem.

According to the notifier, the municipality did not put any extra efforts for the disabled woman. According to the notification, the elevator should have previously been malfunctioning and with the knowledge that users will be isolated in their accommodation, a preventive work should be carried out as the user's living conditions deteriorate.

What responsibility does Hammarö Municipality have here?

- It is the housing association's responsibility, another user in the house we moved to other housing, says Elgemark.

But the disabled woman stayed in her residence all summer?

- It was assessed that it was not appropriate to move her because we were told that it would take two to three weeks to repair the elevator. Then the new message became week by week.
