Israeli forces have arrested two Palestinians on suspicion of killing an Israeli soldier last Thursday.

The Israeli Shin Bet security service said in a statement that following an intensive intelligence operation by the security services, police and the army arrested two people suspected of involvement in the killing of soldier Dvir Sorek on August 7, 2019 near the Migdal Oz settlement between Bethlehem and Hebron.

In a statement, the Israeli security service said that the two Palestinian youths came from the town of Beit Kahel in the northwest of Hebron.

Clashes erupted during the arrest of the two youths, where Palestinian youths threw stones at Israeli soldiers, while the Israeli army said its forces responded using means of dispersing gatherings.

The body of the Israeli soldier was found with stab wounds near the Gush Etzion settlement south of Jerusalem, while the car, which was supposed to have been used by the two Palestinian youths, was confiscated.

In the Gaza Strip, Israeli Army Radio reported that the army killed a Palestinian gunman who approached the border fence in the northern Gaza Strip on Sunday morning, and said that the gunman opened fire at the army and returned fire.

This came as a continuation of clashes that broke out at dawn yesterday, the Israeli occupation army announced the killing of four Palestinians near the eastern border of the Gaza Strip, pointing out that they approached the border fence.

An Israeli army statement claimed that the Palestinians were equipped with Kalashnikov rifles, grenades and rocket-propelled grenades, adding that his soldiers opened fire and killed them after one of them crossed the border fence.
