Double pink diary in a Belgian wildlife park: twin giant pandas were born on Thursday. This is good news for this endangered species, especially since births are rare.

They are tentatively called Baby Girl and Baby Boy. The two little pandas, a male and a female, were born Thursday, August 8, two hours apart. They weigh 160 and 150 grams respectively. The two baby pandas that came out this week are doing well for now.

Their mother, Hao Hao, was inseminated in April. This female panda has been lent for 15 years to a Belgian animal park by China as her companion, Xing Hui.

The renewal of giant pandas is complicated, the fertility of a female panda takes place only once a year and lasts less than three days.

To ensure their health, the small pandas were placed under surveillance 24 hours a day and 7 days a week to ensure that their mother could breastfeed them properly.

Ultimately, they are intended to be reintroduced into their natural environment. To date, eleven giant pandas born in captivity have already been released. Nine of them are still alive.
