In Algeria, the protesters do not let go. For the 25th consecutive Friday, the Algerians mobilized on August 9 in number in the street, calling for "civil disobedience" and rejecting the dialogue proposed by the government to end the political crisis.

In the middle of a major police deployment, protesters flocked to the center of Algiers after Friday's big prayer and parade to the Grande Poste, the epicenter of the protest that led to the resignation of the former president. Abdelaziz Bouteflika on April 2 after 20 years in power.

Impossible to evaluate in the absence of official count, the mobilization remained important, under a blazing sun, at the beginning of long weekend and two days of the celebration of Eid al-Adha.

"Either we or you will not stop", "Civil status, not military", "Civil disobedience is on the way", chanted the protesters to call the leaders close to Abdelaziz Bouteflika to leave power.

The protesters have also condemned Karim Younes, the coordinator of the National Forum of Dialogue and Mediation, formed by Acting President Abdelkader Bensalah to conduct consultations on the modalities of the future presidential election. This body is disputed by the protesters and several personalities refused to join her.

"The power will end up listening to us"

Originally scheduled for July 4, when the interim period provided by the Constitution to elect a successor to Abdelaziz Bouteflika expired, the presidential election could not be organized due to lack of candidates. And Abdelkader Bensalah is still in office.

On Wednesday, the National Forum met for the first time to discuss with people presented as activists of the protest. The majority of speakers considered that the presidential election should be held quickly and without intervention of the government of Noureddine Bedoui, accused of being a "representative of fraud".

The protest movement calls for the departure of all the former relatives of Abdelaziz Bouteflika before an election. "No dialogue with the gangs," chanted the protesters.

"The power will eventually listen to us and respond to our demands that are very simple: the departure of the figures of the Bouteflika system. You can not organize elections with the fraudsters who allowed him to stay 20 years in power", said Hassan, a 57-year-old official.

In the late afternoon, the protesters dispersed in calm and there were no arrests. As in recent weeks, many police vehicles have been parked in Algiers on both sides of the main downtown streets borrowed by the procession.

Claims "satisfied" according to the army

On Thursday, the army's chief of staff and real strongman General Ahmed Gaïd Salah ruled that the "fundamental" demands of the protest movement had been met, adding that the goal was now the presidential.

"They say that the demands of the protest movement have been met, I have not seen anything, we have asked for the departure of the government and it is still there, we asked for the departure of Bensalah and we extended his mandate" said Naima, a 34-year-old bank employee, indignantly.

The army refused to implement the "measures of appeasement" advocated by the Forum of dialogue to promote discussions with the challenge. These measures included the release of persons arrested in connection with the demonstrations and the lightening of searches and the police apparatus on days of protests.

Since February 22, the country is shaken by a protest movement, marked by weekly rallies protesting at the start against a new mandate of Mr. Bouteflika then, after his resignation, demanding the departure of his former faithful still in power.

"You hear calls for civil disobedience, maybe it's difficult to achieve, but for me we've already been in it for almost 6 months," said Naima.
