A demonstration by the European Movement against the Islamization of the far-right West (Biggida) caused a temporary closure of Marwa al-Sherbini mosque in the eastern city of Dresden, but the mosque administration reopened after the demonstration ended.

The far-right movement chose the mosque to demonstrate in front of it after learning of a plan submitted by the municipal administration of the city's municipality that had not yet been completed because of its lack of access to large numbers of worshipers.

The mosque was closed under the slogan "the church in the village and the mosque in Istanbul", in reference to its refusal to build mosques in Germany, as well as not recognizing Islam as an official religion of the country.

According to the administration of the mosque and after consultations, the decision to close it on Thursday noon until dawn on Friday after the confirmation of a demonstration in front of him, to prevent any friction or quarrels and to protect the safety of worshipers.

To counter the dangers of the far right, left-wing activists took part in a musical concert a few meters from the demonstration of the Begida movement to denounce populist policies and to show a policy of welcoming foreigners.
