The African mediator in the Sudanese file Mohamed Ould Labat intervened on Sunday to dissuade the Ethiopian authorities from the deportation of JEM President Jibril Ibrahim from its territory.

Ibrahim arrived in Addis Ababa a few days ago to participate in joint consultations between the forces of freedom and change and the factions of the Revolutionary Front, on a peace process in the country.

An Ethiopian intelligence team arrived at the hotel where Ibrahim and the delegation accompanying him live, and asked him to leave the country immediately, Anatolia news agency quoted a movement commander as saying on condition of anonymity.

The source did not explain the reasons for this request, but pointed to the interference of the African mediator and his success in discrediting the authorities.

Ibrahim was accused in the registration of the Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Egypt to intervene in the Sudanese issue, to pass a project aimed at keeping the Sudanese forces in Yemen for as long as possible.

The Ethiopian capital has started consultations with representatives of the forces of the Declaration of Freedom and Change and the Revolutionary Front, which includes several armed Sudanese factions, in the presence of the African mediator.

Since last week, the forces of change have been holding meetings with the armed factions in Addis Ababa, but they have not made significant progress.
