Khalifa University of Science and Technology has announced three initiatives to build human capital in the field of artificial intelligence, including the establishment of the Institute of Artificial Intelligence and Smart Systems, and the launch of the artificial intelligence program for the bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees, The most expensive prize in the world in the field of robotics and artificial intelligence, noting that the value of investments in artificial intelligence projects research is 320 million dirhams.

The university said it will invest 160 million dirhams in artificial intelligence through research projects within the Institute of Artificial Intelligence over the next five years, in addition to 160 million dirhams already invested in the financing of the Emirates Center for Innovation in Communications and Information Technology (EBTEC), raising the total investment value in AI projects to AED 320 million.

The Mohammed bin Zayed Global Challenge for Robot 2020 will be worth five million US dollars and is one of the world's largest and most important robotics competitions, scheduled to begin in February 2020. The challenge is organized every two years, Selected 34 robotics teams from the best universities from around the world to compete in Abu Dhabi during a three-day competition in which teams demonstrate their innovation, science and engineering skills. During the conference, Dr. Arif Al Hammadi, Executive Vice President, Khalifa University of Science and Technology, said: "The Institute of Artificial Intelligence is under its umbrella six research centers that underscore the University's commitment to research focusing on digital technologies for the next generation, The Institute is the first in the UAE to focus on the applications of artificial intelligence, and aims to train employees in the government and industrial sectors on the science and applications of artificial intelligence, and will carry out the latest research that will benefit the government and industrial sectors. At a time when the importance of new smart systems such as artificial intelligence and mechanical learning has emerged, Khalifa University has decided to be at the forefront in developing new innovations in these areas.

"We hope that the new Institute of Artificial Intelligence (IMI) will increase the value of the Mohammed Bin Zayed Global Challenge 2020 and the Artificial Intelligence program to lead innovation in next-generation technologies, which will benefit the country. The artificial intelligence program for all undergraduate students, in addition to the artificial intelligence specialties of the master and doctorate in the science and engineering faculties of the university, where the program will start with the beginning of the first semester of academic year 2019-2020. This program will provide students with the necessary knowledge and skills in artificial intelligence and related fields that serve the UAE government and industry sectors. "

The Khalifa University of Science and Technology (KAUST) announced that the Mohammed Bin Zayed Global 2020 Robot Challenge, scheduled for February next year, will address key challenges including security, civil emergency response and building automation. In the first challenge, unmanned aerial vehicles will track and detain extraneous drone aircraft, with the aim of achieving security and safety.

In the second challenge, the self-driving vehicles of the participating teams, whether air or ground, would coordinate the development, transport and assembly of the various pieces to construct pre-defined forms in an external environment. In the third challenge, unmanned aerial vehicles and ground-based vehicles will encounter artificial fires in high-rise buildings to extinguish them without any human intervention. The big challenge requires robots to compete in a race like a triathlon, which involves all challenges with one competition at the same time.
