The United Arab Emirates, represented by its humanitarian arm, the Red Crescent, today inaugurated the Fish Market Project in Al-Khokha Directorate of Al-Hudaydah Governorate, after providing it with equipment and machinery.

The project is to create a fish market, including 11 cutting and cleaning tables, 40-ton refrigerators and refrigerators, 100 kW generators, a washing machine for fish cleaning and preparation, and water reservoirs that will be serviced by an integrated solar energy system, said Mohammed Al-Junaibi, director of humanitarian affairs for the UAE Red Crescent in Yemen. .

He pointed out that the fish market project, which was inaugurated and the rehabilitation project of the fish landing center, which opened about 10 months ago, benefits more than 12,000 fishermen from the city of al-Khokha and the surrounding areas.

He pointed out that the implementation and opening of this project comes within the framework of the interest of the UAE through its human arm, the Red Crescent, for the various sectors (humanitarian, service and development), in the West Coast and in all liberated governorates of Yemen, Stability and the activation of economic activities.

For his part, Undersecretary of the province of Hodeidah, Hashim Al-Azzazi, said that the service and development projects carried out by the UAE Red Crescent in various areas of the West Coast have contributed to the normalization of life and achieve a rapid and qualitative leap in the fields of health, education, fishing and other economic and commercial activities.

Director General of Al-Khokha Directorate, Mohammed Yahya Abdul Salam, confirmed that the fish market project will serve a large number of fishermen and their families, help them to improve their living conditions and benefit all residents of the city of 50,000.

A number of fishermen expressed their great pleasure in resuming the fishing activity which is beneficial to them and their families in improving their living conditions.
