"The government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela ratifies its decision to leave the Organization of American States on April 27, 2019 in accordance with the complaint filed two years ago and in the framework of the relevant procedures," the Foreign Ministry said.

The Foreign Ministry also noted that "the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela cannot remain in an organization that is on its knees in front of the imperial and dominant interests of the US administration."

In January, the OAS declared its refusal to recognize the new presidential term of Nicolas Maduro in Venezuela.

Later it was reported that the Secretary General of the OAS, Luis Almagro, believes that Maduro’s resignation as the President of Venezuela is the best humanitarian aid of the Bolivarian Republic.
