UN: UN diplomat visits controversial island for Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh

Dhaka (AFP) The UN Special Rapporteur on the human rights situation in Myanmar has visited an uninhabited island where Bangladesh, despite international criticism, intends to house tens of thousands of Myanmar Rohingya refugees. South Korean Yanghee Lee was helicoptered to the island of Bhashan Char on Thursday to inspect the refugee shelters still under construction. On Friday she wants to speak at a press conference in Dhaka on the visit.
