The authors of the appeal were 49 deputies of the Ukrainian parliament.

“We ask you to recognize unconstitutional changes to the law“ On Freedom of Conscience and Religious Organizations ”regarding the name of a religious organization ...”, the deputy’s statement reads.

Deputies called on the court to consider the complaint without delay. They consider that this law violates the constitutional right to freedom of world view and religion.

Earlier, the UOC declared their intention to challenge the renaming requirement in court.

The law on the renaming of the canonical UOC came into force in Ukraine on December 27.
