Istanbul (AFP) Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has asserted that Turkey does not want to occupy Syria. "We have no plans to occupy Syria and our area of 780,000 square kilometers is enough for us," Erdogan said in a speech in Ankara on Thursday. The Turkish military is in northern Syria to protect the Turkish border, but also "to ensure peace in the region for the people there."
