The Dubai Criminal Court has sentenced three defendants to lure businessmen for the sale of digital currency in exchange for about one million dirhams, then assaulted them and stole the amount they had brought to buy the digital currency.

The Dubai Public Prosecution referred eight defendants to the case. The court convicted three of them and sentenced them to one year in prison and then to deportation on charges of detention and forced robbery.

According to the prosecution's investigation, the defendants published a declaration on Facebook that possession of a group of currency of the house, Chinese businessmen expressed interest in the deal and continued with them, and then agreed on the parties to meet in the Rifaa.

Investigations indicated that during the negotiation of the deal, a number of people who claimed to be policemen and arrested the victims suddenly broke into the place and stole 800,000 dirhams.

One of the victims was able to free himself, arrest one of the accused and detain him in the apartment until the police arrived.

One of the victims said in the Public Prosecution's investigation that the defendants had shown them copies of the currency and documents proving their ownership before the faked police broke into the place and robbed them.

According to the investigation, Dubai police were able to track down the suspects through the vehicle number they used to escape the scene. The eight defendants pleaded guilty to the crime of detention and forced robbery, convicted three of them and acquitted five others for lack of evidence.
