After many months of renovating and building his hard-earned home, he and his wife and five children came under one roof. The Palestinian, Omar Ghazi Shaaban, returned to his father's house again without having a moment to live in his new home.

While his house was ready to live, Israeli bulldozers moved his three layers into a heap of rubble in front of him and his family, even though he received an Israeli court order on the same day to stop the demolition.

What is happening in the family of Omar Shaaban in the city of Lod, inside the Green Line, is suffered by all the population of the town, estimated at 35 thousand people, and are located in the districts of Shneir and the station and the walk and the green oasis, while the neighborhood of Shneir, which houses the house of Shaaban, the most vulnerable to displacement and asylum, The estimated 6,000 residents have been ordered to demolish their 2,000 homes.

Demolition by force

The Emirates Al-Youm was in the neighborhood of Shneir in the city of Lod, to convey a direct and vivid picture of the displacement and asylum situation that the Shaaban family was subjected to. The families of the neighborhood wait at any moment after receiving the demolition notices.

"The house, which has always dreamed that my wife, my wife and my two children, who have reached puberty, will become a pile of rubble," said the owner of the destroyed house, Omar Shaaban, to Emirates Today. "I did not commit any crime, I just repaired and built my house on land that belonged to my father for decades. "

He added: "The house was equipped with all the furniture and needs, and we started to live in it. We were happy, but we were surprised by the arrival of Israeli bulldozers, reinforced by the police force, who took us all by the force of arms from the house. They assaulted me personally and arrested me for objecting to the demolition. Inside the new objects and furniture that we have not yet used ».

Shaaban points out that the Israeli municipality in Lod and the Israeli court agree and evade the law. The municipality refused to respect a court order to freeze the demolition order, pointing out that the police used violence to enforce the demolition.

On the day of the demolition, the lawyer of the Sha'ban family had received a court order to freeze the demolition pending a decision on the case at the court hearing on December 18.

"We have taken a decision from the Israeli Central Court in Lod to stop the demolition, to look at the case in another session a month later, but half an hour later Israeli bulldozers and large police forces came and started the demolition, ignoring the court's decision," said Dargham Seif.

Saif points out that the bulldozers razed to the first floor of the house, which is not covered by the notification, to complete the destruction of the rest of the layers completely.

Systematic policy

While Israel is blocking the construction of 35,000 Palestinians in Lod, it is confiscating and annexing land for the settlement expansion of the 50,000 settlers living in Lod, following a systematic policy of emptying the city of Palestinians and changing its character from an Arab city to a Jewish one.

A member of the municipal council in Lod, Fida Shehadeh, notes that the demolition of Beit Omar Ghazi Shaaban violates the law and humanitarian law. The family, consisting of a father, a mother and children, was forcibly displaced in violation of a court order.

The issue of planning and construction

Shehadeh explains to Al-Emarat Al-Youm that the main problem in Lod is the issue of planning and building by Israel to shed its sword, which is the pretext of the lack of building permits, on the necks of the Palestinians. Any moment, after receiving demolition notices, to be their fate as happened with the family of Shaaban.

The threat of demolition, according to Shehadeh, is focused on the areas of the Old City of Lod and the specifically Shneir enclave, which was surrounded by a concrete wall to separate it from a Jewish settlement on its outskirts, isolating it from the rest of the population in other towns. It points out that the Israeli authorities have drawn up plans to regulate the construction of the Palestinians and to grant the necessary permits, which they issue on almost impossible terms.

"The city of Lod is a vital and strategically important area in terms of its location close to the line of contention with the territories occupied in 1967, and the presence of more than five settlements on its territory, in addition to the Lydda Airport, Israel is using it for Judaization operations," says the construction planner and a member of the municipal council in Lod. And the establishment of the Israeli presence in it, to surpass the population, the Jews and the settlers, the number of Palestinians.
