The government is donating 1 million euros extra for aid to Venezuela. The money goes to the Red Cross that opened giro number 5125 on Friday for help to Venezuela and neighboring countries.

The money comes to the 600,000 euros that the Netherlands already made available last year to help Venezuelans. The South American country has been in deep political and economic crisis for years.

Millions of people have fled the country. "Usually they have to leave everything behind and after an often dangerous flight they arrive in countries such as Colombia, Peru and Ecuador, but also in Aruba and Curaçao.The people from Venezuela are left to their fate", according to the Red Cross

The International Red Cross helps refugees with temporary shelter and sanitation, food and clean drinking water, medical care, increasing safety for women and children and tracking down families who have lost each other.
