The head of the Ministry of Defense of Venezuela called happening in the country coup

“I warn of a coup d'état regarding the legitimate authority, democracy and legitimate president Nicolas Maduro,” the minister said during a press conference.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called the situation in Venezuela interference in the affairs of the country.

On January 23, Venezuelan Parliament Speaker Juan Guaido declared himself interim head of state. Washington therefore called on Maduro to transfer power to him.

In turn, the Venezuelan president accused the United States of intending to carry out a coup d'état in the country.
