The Council of Experts of Rada did not approve the bill on depriving the UOC of its name

As noted, the innovations “do not look motivated enough and reasoned, go beyond the limits set in the relevant provisions of Art. 35 of the Constitution and the Law of Ukraine "On Freedom of Conscience and Religious Organizations."

Experts emphasize that the adopted bill restricts the right to freedom of world view and religion.

At the same time, the law allows this to be done solely in the interests of protecting civil order, public health and morals.

The publication also writes that, according to the Constitution, the state should not interfere in the activities of religious organizations.

Earlier, the Parliament supported the bill depriving the UOC of its name.

State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin reported that Russian deputies intend to appeal to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly because of the persecution of clergy in Ukraine.
