Nick Ayers does not want to take over the post of chief of staff in the White House, serving Donald Trump. Ayers was the prime candidate of the US president. Ayers tweeted now, however, that he would not accept the post.

Thank you @realDonaldTrump, @VP, and my great colleagues for honoring our nation at The White House. I want to be departing at the end of the year but want to work with the #MAGA team to advance the cause. #Georgia

According to his tweet, Ayers wants to leave the White House by the end of the year. At the same time, he assured the president of his loyalty: "I will be leaving at the end of the year, but I will be working with the Make America Great Again team to move things forward." Ayers also suggested a move to his home state of Georgia.

Supposedly Trump wanted to oblige the 36-year-old for two years, so that he participates in the work for the 2020 elections. But Ayers have waved off for family reasons, they say.

Currently, Ayers is Chief of Staff of Vice President Mike Pence. Reuters reports, citing sources, that Ayers will join a political group.

Several candidates in conversation

There are various rumors about the alternatives. For example, the US President is considering two other candidates instead, the Reuters news agency reports without reference to the source.

The candidates are supposedly dealing with Minister of Finance Steven Mnuchin and the Republican Republican Mark Meadows. The Associated Press news agency reports that Mick Mulvaney is also talking. Mulvaney is the director of the Administration and Housing Department. Trump will soon decide on a new chief of staff.

On Saturday, the US president announced that the White House chief of staff, John Kelly, would have to leave the post by the end of the year. Before Kelly, Reince Priebus had left the post after only six months in office.
