Tokyo (dpa) - The Japanese space probe «Hayabusa2» has landed on the asteroid Ryugu about 300 million kilometers away from Earth. The unmanned probe had sent data, said the Japanese space agency Jaxa in the morning. "Hayabusa2" is to collect material from the surface. At the end of next year the probe will return to earth. Its predecessor model had already brought Earth samples of an asteroid to Earth in 2010 for the first time ever. The researchers want to use the mission to trace the origins of the solar system.
