“As for the return of Syria as a full-fledged member, it should be understood that any return must be supported by an agreement of all members, but as long as there are objections, some do not disclose positions,” RIA Novosti quoted Ahmed Aboul Gheit.

Earlier, the foreign ministers of Iran and Iraq, Mohammad Javad Zarif and Muhammad Ali al-Hakim, discussed the possibility of restoring Syria’s status in the Arab League.

Later, Lebanese Foreign Minister Gibran Basil said that Syria’s membership in the Arab League is in the interests of the Arab countries.

The League of Arab States is a regional intergovernmental organization established in 1945.

Syria’s membership in the organization was suspended in 2011 due to a conflict in the country.
