“Aircraft escort of long-range aircraft was performed by crews of MiG-31 interceptor fighters. The flight duration was more than 13 hours, "- said in a statement received in RT.
As noted, at certain stages of the route, Russian aircraft were escorted by F-16 fighters from the Norwegian and Danish Air Forces.
“All flights of the airplanes of the Air and Space Forces of Russia are carried out in strict accordance with the International Rules for the Use of Airspace,” the defense department stressed.
Earlier in the UK reported that Air Force fighter jets accompanied the Russian Tu-160 near the country's airspace.
