The bac reform, for 2021, required a review of the programs. They are being finalized and should be published by the end of December. A short review of what will change.

The new programs of the second and first year classes in high school are being finalized: teachers have until Tuesday to give their opinion on the project presented by the Higher Council of Programs. The ministry will release them by the end of December. The precedents were from 2010. The reform of the ferry, for 2021, required a review. The unions regret consultations held at no charge.

French

The approach is always carried out through the four major genres: novel and narrative, theater, poetry and literature of ideas. But the projects include several novelties, including "the personal book of readings and cultural training" that each student must hold in second and first. It will be used as a basis for the presentation of a file that will count for half of the oral note of the baccalaureate.

Another novelty, the study of four compulsory works, decided by the General Inspectorate, with a change of title per year. Until now, the books were chosen by each teacher. " There have never been any compulsory works in French except under the Bayrou Ministry (1993-1997)," notes Viviane Youx, of the association for the teaching of French (AFEF), considered progressive. "To create a common culture, why not? But these four compulsory books will give rise to an extensive publication of reading cards, which students buy and then regurgitate. As for the teachers, they will have less freedom and will have to teach three years in a row the same work. Practical but tedious ... "

Finally, the writing of the baccalaureate will propose only the dissertation and commentary of the text, the subject of invention, introduced twenty years ago, being deleted. For Alexis Torchet, of the Sgen-Cfdt, this program illustrates the tension between a teaching that prepares for higher studies and "a very rigid management" .

Mathematics

This discipline is absent from the common core of subjects taught to all students from the first. It remains present in the form of a "specialty" (young people choose three first and only two in the final). The "special math" is "well built, but very demanding" , almost more than a first S current, notes Alexis Torchet. "What about students who have the ES track profile, who want to do math but not at a level as high as this spe-math? "

Currently, only the high school students of the literary path (15% of the staff of the general way) did not do more math from the first one. Students can take a "complementary mathematics" option in terminal. But will they do it after a first without maths?

History geography

The projects favor a "more chronological" approach . "Until now, we treated the two world wars in a global way, which could lead to confusion," recalls Franck Collard, president of the Association of History and Geography Teachers (APHG). "For geo, we are going in the right direction, we come out of this incantatory reiteration on sustainable development," continues the president of this association, attached to a traditional education.

But the hourly volumes (3 hours in first against 4 today) "are insufficient" , regrets Bruno Modica, movement Clionautes. Several unions denounce the return of a "battle history" : "an event history, to the detriment of the movement of ideas," according to Claire Krepper, SE-Unsa. The content of moral and civic education also raises its share of criticism "Until now, this teaching has favored debate. There, one has the feeling that one wants to inculcate notions or values, but not really to question " , judge Sandrine Charrier, of the national union of the secondary education (Snes).

Economic and social sciences

The Association of Professors of Economics and Social Sciences (Apses) has launched a petition to ask for the "rewriting" of programs, which, according to her, forbid to seize "the major issues that cross our societies" . "In two years, with these projects, students would have heard little about inequality, purchasing power, hierarchies between social groups or unemployment," she denounces. "We noted the significant strengthening of the role given to the micro-economy, at the expense of sociology issues , " said Claire Krepper, who still hopes "evolutions" .
