“The goal of the bill is to approve a single document regarding the definition of activities for the decommissioning of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant and turning the Shelter into an environmentally safe system,” said Ivan Rybak, representative of the parliamentary committee on environmental policy, environmental management and disaster recovery.

It is noted that the Ukrainian parliament plans to allocate 3 billion hryvnia for these goals until 2020.

For the adoption of the bill in the second reading and in general, 229 deputies voted with the necessary minimum of 226 votes.

In July, it was reported that the general director of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, Igor Gramotkin, resigned.
