"The Ukrainian conflict has strongly affected the relationship between the EU and Russia. Relations depend on finding a solution to the conflict, where Russia plays a key role, "the Prime Minister of Finland said after talks with his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev.

He stressed that, "despite the existing sanctions, the EU and Russia are neighbors" and the dialogue between the countries "is of vital importance."

Sipil also said that "contacts between the two countries at the level of civil society" are very important for Finland.

Earlier it was reported that during the talks between the Prime Ministers of Russia and Finland, issues of trade, economic, scientific, technical, cultural and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries will be raised.
