According to Poroshenko, his "principled position" is that martial law will not interfere with the conduct of elections.

“And if large-scale aggression does not begin, the invasion of the troops of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation into the territory of Ukraine outside the confrontation line and the administrative border of Crimea, martial law will not continue,” Interfax-Ukraine quoted him as saying.

According to him, after the expiration of martial law in Ukraine, preparations will begin for the election of the head of state.

Earlier, Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman said that the martial law in some regions of the country could be terminated early in the absence of threats.

Martial law in Ukraine was introduced until December 26.
