“In 2020, the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be organized and able to act fully according to NATO standards in accordance with the law on national security,” Poroshenko quotes Ukrinform.

According to him, Ukraine’s path to the EU and NATO will help ensure the security of Ukrainian borders and sovereignty.

As the head of state pointed out, Euro-Atlantic integration is also a way to strengthen Ukrainian statehood and the dignity of Ukrainian citizens.

“And we have proved that we are capable of winning victories on this path determined by the Ukrainian people,” he noted.

Earlier, Poroshenko called on the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine for an early transition to NATO standards.

As Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavel Klimkin said, it will be easier for Ukraine to become a member of NATO than an EU member because of the “focus on security sector reform”.

Expert Oleg Nemensky, in an interview with FBA “Economy Today”, noted that Ukraine’s chances of joining NATO and the EU are zero in the foreseeable future.
