With 27 medals won in the national finals of the 2016 Olympics, Bordeaux, Normandy took the lead in the regions of France. Two years later, New Aquitaine has its revenge: its candidates won 39 medals in Caen. It is 6 more than the Normans, who beat yet their record. Discover the ranking of regions.

The Zenith of Caen exulted, Saturday night, throughout the closing ceremony of the national finals Olympiades trades. The ceremony began after nearly an hour late: all delegations combined, the 700 candidates sang, shouted, danced, and embarked on a giant caterpillar as soon as they arrived.

A joyous party improvised by competitors who gave everything during the three days of competition.

The results were revealed after occupation, there were 57 in competition.

Joy, but also disappointment ...

Each had only one idea in mind: to win gold. Alas, there was not enough medal for everyone.

Candidates collapsed when they heard the podium escape, after months of intensive preparation. "Excellency ... I finish in the place of con," laments a boy.

"Of course there is disappointment, and then a lot of fatigue too, says Coralie, a Norman candidate, eyes bathed in tears. It's so much emotion in a short time these Olympiads ... "

Behind her, another candidate, however confident, is inconsolable.

Medal record for Normandy

The competition was announced between New Aquitaine, organizer of previous family finals, and Normandy, which had been full of medals in Bordeaux two years ago (27 medals, including 14 gold).

Promises held between the two regions providing the most candidates (64 in Normandy, 65 in New Aquitaine!)

With 33 medals won at home, including 7 gold, Normandy beats its previous record ... but New Aquitaine takes revenge, with 39 medals, including 6 gold.

Normandy ranks second with the Pays de la Loire (33 medals, including six gold), far ahead of Britain.

A few hours after the end of the ceremony, after a very small night, the champions were gathered by the national committee to prepare the sequel.
