Berlin (dpa) - In Germany, significantly fewer people applied for asylum last year than in the previous year. According to Bild am Sonntag, a good 185,000 asylum applications were submitted from January to December 2018, 16.5 percent fewer than the year before. The State Secretary for Migration and Repatriation, Helmut Teichmann, spoke in the newspaper of a "continuous decline in access to Germany" since the peak in autumn 2015. The reason for this was the "Migration Master Plan".
