The US military has awarded Microsoft a $ 480 million contract to supply the military branch with up to 100,000 hololence-enhanced glasses for training and combat purposes, according to Bloomberg.

Microsoft outperformed other leading companies in the field of enhanced reality, such as Magic Lip, which announced it would join the bidding process in September but did not do.

Microsoft had the upper hand, with its focus primarily on corporate markets, unlike Magic Lip which focused on a consumer market that hardly existed.

Microsoft had previously sold some of those glasses to the military, but this contract goes beyond the previous cooperation, and can greatly expand the range that can be reached by these glasses.

"Enhanced reality technology will provide soldiers with better and better decision-making information," a company spokesman wrote in an e-mail to Bloomberg. "This new work extends our long and reliable relationship with the Ministry of Defense to this new area," he added.

According to Bloomberg, Hallolins 'military glasses will differ significantly from current Hololins' glasses design, which will include thermal sensors and night vision, and will be used in training and battlefield.

It is expected that the company will provide military branch of the army at least 2500 units of these glasses during the next employees.

The Virg Tech website shows that cooperation between technology companies and the US military has been charged over the past year, with staff commenting on deals and demanding that their company leaders withdraw.

Last month, Google pulled out of bidding for a $ 10 billion contract with the Pentagon, but Microsoft kept bidding on the deal despite its employees' objections to its move.
