“You know how often I meet with President Macron ... If he said a few days ago that he would not come to Munich, there would still be a lot of joint meetings, by the example of which you can be sure that the spirit of the Aachen Treaty is alive,” she told reporters.
On February 7, the German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung wrote that Macron had refused to participate in the Munich Security Conference against the background of disagreements with Germany on Nord Stream 2.
Later, representatives of the forum confirmed that the French side on February 1 informed about the cancellation of the participation of Macron in the event.
On February 8, it became known that France and Germany reached a compromise on Nord Stream 2.
