On February 7, the German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung wrote that Macron had refused to participate in the Munich Security Conference against the background of disagreements with Germany on Nord Stream 2.

Later, representatives of the forum confirmed that the French side on February 1 informed about the cancellation of the participation of Macron in the event.

On February 8, it became known that France and Germany reached a compromise on Nord Stream 2.
