In Madagascar, seven people were arrested after the kidnapping and murder in Tsaratanana, in the north of the country, of a parliamentary candidate. Two days after the publication of the official list of candidates by the CENI of this election to be held on May 27, one of them, who appeared in the colors of the party of President Andry Rajoelina, was found dead, murdered by criminals.

Among the seven people arrested as a result of this murder, there is one independent candidate in the legislative election who appears in the same district as the victim. " The perpetrators of this crime told us that it was this candidate who paid them to kill him, " says Commander Herilalatiana Andrianarisaona, in charge of communication at the National Gendarmerie.

Bozon Rakotozafy was kidnapped on 10 March by three men armed with hunting rifles. The latter was the candidate of the political platform of President Andry Rajoelina , the IRD Isika Rehetra Miaraka amin'ny Andry Rajoelina ("We all with President Andry Rajoelina"). " He was kidnapped just after being nominated as a candidate for our platform. We regret strongly and bitterly what happened. This is a heinous crime , "answered the phone Pierre Houlder, Director General of the Presidency in charge of political affairs.

If the family claimed to have paid half the ransom, Bozon Rakotozafy was eventually found dead by law enforcement officers at the weekend.

The motive of this crime remains uncertain. " The candidate suspected of being the sponsor of the murder denies the facts so far, " says the gendarmerie. The three women and four men arrested are currently being escorted by the police to be presented to the prosecutor of Mahajanga. Two days of walking are necessary to reach this capital of region since Tsaratanana.
