The prefecture of Mayenne launched this Tuesday, November 6, at 10 am, a clearing operation of scrap metal and car carcasses on the parcels of Jean-Claude Langin, in Lignières-Orgères, in the heart of the natural park. The sub-prefect of Mayenne, Noura Kihal-Flégeau, was on site with the gendarmes and two specialized companies.

The prefecture of Mayenne put an end to the Langin affair, in Lignières-Orgères (Mayenne), this Tuesday, November 6th. From 10 am, the sub-prefect of Mayenne, Noura Kihal-Flégeau, was on site with gendarmes.

For almost fifteen years, the scrap dealer Jean-Claude Langin has been piling up wrecks of cars, trucks, tires, cans and other scrap on 4 hectares of land, in the heart of the Normandie-Maine Regional Nature Park.

But in 2009, several environmental code violations are noted, the neighbors complain and he is put on notice by the prefecture.

The clearing operation, which was to start early this Tuesday morning, was delayed due to an inventory of objects piled on the plots. The estimate, increased to 400 tons of scrap amassed over the years, is well below reality.

The clearing operation should last about twenty days, but the company Passenaud, mandated to recycle waste, would tend for six months of work, especially because of the approach of winter.
