The Gabonese Electoral Center (CGE) has released the provisional results of the second round of elections on Monday early in the evening. The CEO of Ali Bongo, who was already assured of an absolute majority in the House after the first round, confirms his victory in the second round.

According to preliminary results, out of the 59 constituencies still in play, Ali Bongo's party wins 25. The Democrats of Guy Nzouba Ndama get 8 seats and become the first opposition force, but the former president of the National Assembly was, meanwhile, beaten in the first round.

The last tenor of the opposition who was in the running, Alexandre Barro Chambrier, a former minister who resigned with the CEO 's clash in 2016 to join the opposition, is defeated in his stronghold of the 4th arrondissement. Séverin Pierre Ndong Ekomi of the CEO gets 51.91%.

" We are proud of all these victories, but this one has a particular taste ," says one side of power. Alexandre Barro Chambrier is scheduled to speak on Tuesday. He had in the first round denounced frauds: buying votes, transporting voters, falsifying minutes.

Elsewhere in the country, his party Rassemblement legacy and modernity, gets only two deputies. Two deputies also for the National Union of Zacharie Myboto.
