Saudi King Salman bin Abdul Aziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman received in Riyadh the retired Libyan general Khalifa Hafter.

King Salman discussed with Haftar at Al Yamamah palace in Riyadh Wednesday the latest developments on the Libyan arena and affirmed Saudi Arabia's keenness on the security and stability of Libya.

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman discussed in a separate meeting with Hafer "the developments in the Libyan arena and the efforts made towards them to achieve security and stability in them," the agency said.

She noted that a number of Saudi officials attended the Crown Prince's meeting with Haftar, including the head of the General Intelligence Khaled bin Ali Al-Humaidan, without giving details of the contents of the meeting.

Hafter, who is politically and militarily backed by Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, is in control of vast areas of the Libyan east and is supported by the East government, which is in conflict with the internationally recognized national reconciliation government.
