Salah, the son of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, left Saudi Arabia and his family to go to the United States, sources told Al Jazeera today. Human Rights Watch also confirmed his departure.

Human Rights Watch Middle East official Sarah Leah Whitson confirmed the departure of Salah Khashoggi after lifting the travel ban. "Salah and his family are on a plane heading to Washington now," Whitson said.

Earlier in the day, CNN reported that Salah, the son of Jamal Khashoggi, who was killed on October 2 in his consulate in Istanbul, left Saudi Arabia, adding that a source close to the Khashoggi family told her that Salah had left undefined his destination.

She explained that Salah, who holds Saudi and American citizenship, was unable to leave the country because of restrictions on his passport by the authorities of the Kingdom a few months ago.

Salah is the eldest son of Jamal Khashoggi. His departure comes two days after Saudi King Salman bin Abdul Aziz and his Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Najli Khashoggi Sahl and Salah met at Al Yamamah palace in Riyadh and offered condolences to him on his father's death.
