According to the Israeli army, two missiles were fired on Tel Aviv on Thursday evening (Dutch time). Israel reacted shortly afterwards with a counterattack on the Gaza Strip.

According to Israeli media, no victims were killed in the attack on Tel Aviv and no buildings were hit. Both rockets would have landed in an open field. Shortly after the attack, the warning system went off in the Israeli city.

In a counter reaction, the Israeli army said it fired missiles at "Palestinian terror sites" on the Gaza Strip, near where the earlier missiles would have come from.

According to Israel, two strongholds of Hamas were the target. It is still unclear whether the counterattack has hit the target. Eyewitnesses would have seen multiple explosions at the border.

Hamas has denied involvement and says it has been in peace talks with Egypt during the attack.

It would be the first attack on Tel Aviv since the 2014 Gaza War.
