The Golan Heights is a disputed territory in the Middle East. Currently, most of it is controlled by Israel, while the smaller, eastern part is controlled by Syria.
As stressed in the EU, despite the statement by the American leader, the European Union still does not recognize the Golan Heights as part of Israel.
