While the International Court of Justice in The Hague continues the judicial battle between Iran and the United States over Tehran's rejection of sanctions imposed by Washington; Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei reiterated his country's refusal to negotiate with the United States.

The Iranian delegation called on the International Court of Justice today to reject the arguments formulated by the United States yesterday to obstruct the court's authority and jurisdiction to decide the dispute.

The court held its first session on Monday and is expected to take several weeks to decide whether to make a provisional ruling in response to Tehran's request. The final verdict could take years.

Alan Baily, a member of Iran's legal team, said on the third day of the court hearing to hear Iran's case against US sanctions; the statute of the court does not contain what is to be used to decide the dispute with the United States.

The Iranian legal team has also refuted Washington's application of any exceptions to the list of sanctions imposed by US President Donald Trump on Tehran after it pulled out of a nuclear deal signed by Iran with the six major powers in 2015.

The US delegation to the court said on Tuesday that the court had no jurisdiction to adjudicate the dispute with Iran, nor to take a decision to freeze US sanctions against Tehran.

Washington referred to its security concerns in the first legal response to the lawsuit filed by Iran.

Rejection of negotiations
On the other hand, Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei reiterated that Tehran will not negotiate with Washington, describing the new American officials as "rude and disrespectful" and that they are targeting the Iranian people.

Khamenei stressed that the negotiations with Washington will not be at any level, pointing out that the goal of the United States is to show the world that it has put Iran at the negotiating table.

Khamenei said he had no objection to continuing negotiations with the European Union, but should not be relied on in the files on the nuclear agreement and economic issues. Khamenei stressed that the Europeans should know that the Iranian reaction will be commensurate with the actions they will take.
