“The circumstances surrounding the death of Jamal Khashukji are deeply disturbing, including the shocking violation of the 1963 Vienna Convention on Consular Relations and, in particular, its 55th article,” the statement said.

They noted that the EU insists on a thorough and transparent investigation, which will clarify the circumstances of the murder of the journalist, as well as identify those responsible for the crime.

Earlier, France demanded an exhaustive investigation into the death of a journalist.

Also in Germany they stated that they consider insufficient the information provided by Saudi Arabia in the case of the death of Hashukji, who, according to Riyadh, died as a result of a conflict in the country's consulate in Istanbul.

As part of the case, 18 people were detained. All of them are subjects of Saudi Arabia.
