According to him, the department has information that confirms the recent statement by the ex-President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych about the preparation of provocations by Kiev on the eve of the elections.
“It is known that one of the specially trained groups from the military of the 8th separate special forces regiment (military unit A-0553), based in Khmelnitsky, must attempt the attack on Viktor Medvedchuk,” Donetsk News Agency quoted Popov.
He informed that at present, under the leadership of American specialists, several groups of “liquidators” are allegedly being trained on the basis of the regiment.
Popov argues that the main developer and executor of the shares is the General Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the staff of the SBU are engaged in "spying on potential victims."
Earlier, during a press conference, Yanukovych said that a group of people was preparing an attempt on the life of Medvedchuk.
Rada demanded an investigation.
