Hundreds of lawyers demonstrated in their black uniforms yesterday in the center of the Algerian capital to call for regime change, following the mass demonstrations across the country demanding the resignation of President Abdelaziz Bouteflika.

They wrote on banners posted by lawyers who came from several areas and gathered at the Great Post Square "Lawyers with the People".

They chanted "We bored this regime" and "Let go," waving national flags.

The lawyers then broke into a security cordon to demonstrate in the streets of the center of the capital.

"The defense team met today to say the game is over," said lawyer and lawyer Noureddine Beni Saad.

"We are against a transitional process overseen by the regime, the change and the transition process must take place immediately," Beni Saad said.

Lawyer Khalid Jatit, along with his five-year-old daughter, carried him on his shoulders from Boumerdes, about 40 kilometers from the capital. "We are demonstrating for our children and for a better Algeria," he said.

On Friday, Algerians descended heavily in almost all of the country's states, demanding the resignation of President Bouteflika and his aides, and the ruling "regime" in Algeria. Crowds gathered for several hours in Algiers.
