Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has asked King Salman to agree to end the work of the Supreme Committee for Public Corruption.

In a statement issued by the Saudi Royal Court on Wednesday, he said that the committee was able to recover 400 billion riyals ($ 107 billion) in the form of real estate, companies, securities and cash to the state treasury.

The statement said King Salman was briefed on the report presented by his son, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, head of the Supreme Committee for Public Corruption Issues.

According to the report, 381 people were summoned, some of them to testify, and all the files of the accused were completed and their cases processed. Their situation was handled under the supervision of the Public Prosecution. Those who were not found guilty of corruption were released.

The report added that the settlement was carried out with 87 people after their approval and acceptance of the settlement, and 56 people were referred to the Public Prosecution to complete the investigation procedures according to the system, where the Attorney General refused to settle with them for the existence of other criminal cases against them.

According to the report, the number of those who did not accept the settlement with them and proved the charge of corruption against them only eight people, were referred to the Public Prosecution to treat them according to the statutory requirement.

Dozens of princes, senior officials and businessmen were detained at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Riyadh on orders from the Saudi crown prince in November 2017.

Most of those detained during the campaign were released within a few months after reaching compromises. Some were reported to have been tortured, which the government denies.
