Work starts in January for five months. It is the largest French shipyard conducted in 2019 by SNCF Réseau. 88 million euros and 500 people mobilized every day. By train or by car, we are concerned.

Wear

Between Nantes and La Roche-sur-Yon, the double railway needs to be replaced on 43 of the 76 km that separate the two cities (86 km in total). The 96 trains that run there every day used

the different elements of the way. Ballast (pebbles under the rails), rails, ties and fasteners will be replaced to ensure the comfort and safety of passengers, all for 88 million euros. This will be the largest French construction site in 2019. Nineteen municipalities are concerned.

Five months of work

Kick off January 7 Clisson, south of Nantes. Until March 29, about fifteen companies, or 500 people, will work daily to La Roche-sur-Yon, Monday to Friday, from 8:30 to 17 pm, then the other way. In the wake, from April 1 to May 29, the yard will leave Clisson to Nantes, then in the other direction. At night this time (from 21:30 to 6:30), so as not to hinder the rail traffic, more dense on this portion.

Impacts on traffic

Between Nantes and Clisson, daytime traffic will not be disturbed. This will not be the case between La Roche-sur-Yon and Clisson, where the work will take place during the day. However, rush hour trains (morning and evening) will be kept to minimize inconvenience to users. Trips will be extended by eight minutes.

Bus transport

Maintain a service, minimize nuisances ... SNCF Réseau proposes a "adapted transport plan " during the works, because the traffic will be reduced by a quarter of its movements overall. To compensate, 22 coaches will transport travelers daily, at the same rates as the train. Timetable available on the website paysdelaloire.ter.sncf.com, or 0 800 584 260, or from agents at railway stations.

By car

The works will also affect road traffic. It will be densified by part of the 30% of travelers who drop the train when the service is disrupted. It will also monitor, on SNCF-reseau.fr, the schedule for the closure of 36 crossings whose decks (floors) will be refurbished for three weeks. Sixteen municipalities are concerned. Road itineraries will be proposed on sncf.reseau.fr.

Noise

As much prevent the residents, the work will generate noise. The warning of the safety of the machines in particular, but also all the noises generated by the removal and the installation of the new materials: 120 000 t of ballast, 172 km of rails, 136 000 concrete sleepers ... To route them, 265 wagons will circulate in rotation from the storage bases in Nantes.

A factory train

Such a site requires very heavy technical resources. SNCF Réseau will use one of the three French factory trains dedicated to this type of operation. Also known as "quick-follow-up", it can process up to 950 m per sequence of work, day or night, from the removal of ties, ballast, to the final tension of the new rails.
