French Foreign Minister Jean-Louis Laudrian on Sunday called on US President Donald Trump not to interfere in France's internal political affairs after commenting on the move of the "yellow jackets."

"I tell Donald Trump and the President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macaron, also told him: We are not part of the American debate, let us live our lives, the life of a nation," he told a television program.

Trump has repeatedly ridiculed the policies of his French counterpart Emmanuel Macaron, most recently on Saturday, where the "yellow jackets" demonstrations in France proved the failure of the Paris climate agreement.

"Day and night are very sad in Paris," Trump wrote on Twitter as the French capital witnessed violent clashes between the yellow jackets and security forces.

"Maybe it is time to put an end to the absurd and very expensive Paris deal and return money to people through tax cuts," he said.

"The French do not want to pay huge amounts of money to third world countries that are running suspicious systems to protect the environment," he said.

Very sad day & night in Paris. Maybe it's time to end the ridiculous and extremely expensive Paris Agreement and return money back to the people in the form of lower taxes? The US was way ahead of the curve on that and the only major country where emissions went down last year!

In November, Macron commented on Trump's criticism that France was a non-aligned ally of the United States, against McCron's call for a European army.

Trump and McCron are in words after the French president last month called for the creation of a unified European army to protect the old continent from China, Russia and the United States.

The call provoked Trump's anger, which he considered "very humiliating," and then wrote in one day five tweets criticizing Macaron and referring to the German occupation of France in World War II.
